There are a few parts of Daily Challenge that members don’t see when they read their challenges each day, but they are just as important! Let’s slap a challenge up on the X-ray screen and take a look inside.
Daily Challenge is written by professional consumer health writers. Our writers cite their sources when they deliver their challenge content for review by our content experts. The information is drawn from research findings, journal articles, health websites whose content has been fully vetted, and other reliable sources of health information. Our content experts, whose areas of knowledge range from exercise and nutrition to psychology and life coaching, also contribute by writing challenges.
Every challenge has an author, and we record that person’s name when we create the challenge. When you offer feedback about a challenge, it is compiled into a summary that’s sent to our Daily Challenge Content Manager and the author of the challenge. Every day, the feedback for each challenge is read and reviewed. Giving direct feedback to the author of the challenge allows him or her to see what works and what doesn’t and helps that person craft stronger challenges.
Each challenge is assigned one domain: Healthy Behaviors, Physical Health, Emotional Health, Work Environment, Life Evaluation, or Basic Access. These six domains guide the development of Daily Challenge, as they reflect what is measured in a scientifically valid tool, the Gallup-Healthways Well-Being Index. Because the aim of Daily Challenge is to help you increase your overall well-being one small action at a time, we make sure to give you challenges that represent all six domains. We pay close attention to how the challenges are ordered with respect to their domains. For example, in the Everyday Well-Being track, you’ll never get two challenges from the Emotional Health domain in a row, and you won’t ever find two Life Evaluation challenges within a seven-day span. Creating a schedule with more variability means you never know what’s next, and that makes for a more exciting experience. Of course, if you start a Track, you’ll receive challenges that focus on one key area of health (like healthy eating or stress relief), and these may draw upon one or more well-being domains.
